Why I’m Not Eating Sad Desk Breakfasts Anymore — Kitchen Diaries: Kate in New York City
Last week, I had a serious realization at my work desk. After fishing a crumb of overly crisped bacon out of my keyboard, I stopped mid-bite to stare at the mediocre egg sandwich from a coffee chain in my hand. Why am I eating the saddest breakfast at my desk every morning? Is this even made of real eggs?
While I almost never eat fast food, somehow breakfast had slipped into another territory where it was okay to give in to the one-stop-shop quick meal that was neither fulfilling nor cheap when you added it up. This week, things changed.

How did Day 1 of The Kitchn Cure go for you? We started off light, but now the real work begins. Today is the first day of our two-day refrigerator task! Instead of tackling both a fridge clearing and deep clean in one day, we’re splitting the project into two parts. Today you’ll simply go through your fridge and toss anything that’s old or expired, and tomorrow you’ll spray, scrub, and deep clean the whole thing.
That doesn’t sound so bad, does it? We’ve also got a few posts to help you decide what to keep and what to toss.

Turning a Kitchen Mistake Into a Success: Or, My Story of Accidental Hot Sauce — Kitchen Diary: Anne in South Carolina
The other day, I came home from one of my favorite local groceries, the Super Acapulco, with hot peppers, queso fresco, a few avocados, some beautiful green onions, and a bag of healthy tomatillos. I imagined a delicious taco salad dinner. Also on my mind was salsa verde, which I have made many times before. So it would be easy. But I got distracted, and things went wrong. Lucky for me, all was not lost.
