Cauliflower “rice” is so popular at Trader Joe’s that select locations have placed a limit on how many you can buy. The low-carb alternative to traditional rice is being rationed — customers can purchase two cauliflower rice bags a day — at two locations in the Northeast: South Orange, NJ, and Fairfield, CT. While the former establishment told Well + Good a cap is in effect, the latter said they are not “actively enforcing” the ration.

In the last couple years, alcohol has been infused into just about every food imaginable (besides broccoli, I’m imagining). One of the most popular ways to get tipsy and eat, however, is probably with ice cream. Boutique establishments sell booze-infused ice cream for times when you need to cool down and get a little tipsy too, and there’s also a ton of recipes out there for you to make your own boozy concoctions (thanks, Pinterest).
If you have yet to try this trendy combination, you’re in luck. There is about to be alcohol ice cream at a frozen foods aisle near you, depending on where you live.
Vitamin A deficiency is a worldwide public health problem that especially impacts nations in Africa and Southeast Asia — it’s been estimated that anywhere from 650,000 to 750,000 kids around the world suffer from a deficit of vitamin A. According to the World Health Organization, a shortage of vitamin A is the leading cause of preventable blindness in children and increases the odds of disease and death by severe infection.
To curb the global epidemic, researchers at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) have created super-food bananas that are rich in vitamin A.
Imagine a world where you’re grabbing ingredients from your grocery store and the receipt outs your habits by printing the nutritional profile of your entire shopping cart. Would you feel proud? Embarrassed? Maybe shocked? Well those feelings could soon become a reality. A new proposal by academics at Birmingham City University says that shoppers should get details they may not want to confront in their receipts: calories, sugars, fats and salts. Aside from potentially food-shaming consumers, it’s not exactly guaranteed to be as reflective of food habits as one may think.
There comes a time in every parent’s life when love must be expressed through buttercream, food dye, and sprinkles; I just didn’t know it would be so soon this time. For my daughter’s second birthday, I planned, as I had as had on her first and her brother’s 7 birthdays to date,* to do my best to heed the siren call of sugar and red dye 40 and then, you know, translate that into something that’s both tasty but not fully plastic. (This is all of parenting, by the way.) My plan had been to make a party-sized Swedish Princess Cake because have you had this buttery cake with custard, jam, whipped cream and a marzipan dome with a single pink rose in the middle? Nothing could be more fitting for our curly-haired wildling. But then Elmo happened.
A little sidebar: If you’ve thus spent most of your time free of toddlers, can I tell you something? It doesn’t matter whether you allow screen time, it doesn’t matter whether your precious clean slate of a human being has ever seen Sesame Street, whether you’ve bought the books or sung the songs, when children turn 18 months old, they all wake up one day obsessed with Elmo. It seems to come out of thin air. My daughter spotted this game of her brother’s out of the corner of her eye and cried EHLMA! EHMLA! until we let her walk around hugging and kissing the box. She sees a red splat of paint on the sidewalk and says “Ehlma?” My mother, witnessing this behavior in the wild, told me my daughter didn’t know or care the first thing about Swedish Princesses, but if I really wanted to put my efforts somewhere heroic, I’d make her an Elmo cake.
French wine has always intimidated me. My love for wine blossomed in Italy and for years I felt quite content drinking bottles almost exclusively from there. Italian wines felt approachable to me — and more importantly, many were and continue to be quite affordable for my lifestyle.
Yet as my interest in wine has grown over the years, I’ve slowly dipped into French wine. And you know what? There really isn’t much to worry about. Sure, there are plenty of fancy, expensive bottles out there, but a good chunk of the great wine that comes out of the country is easy to drink and easy on your wallet.

When I was in elementary school, my mom sewed a lot of my clothes. She was especially into food-themed dresses, as was I. There was a picnic table dress with sandwich buttons, and a watermelon-printed dress with tiny watermelon wedge appliques, among others. I really thought I was all that and a bag of (sour cream and onion) chips.
Well, there’s a new food clothing queen now, and although she’s probably too young for entering the third grade or even reading, she’s taking the social media world by storm. The most inspiring part of this is that most of her clothing would barely even really cover her left foot.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been hearing about Yeti coolers for years. My hardcore camper friends won’t head into the woods without one, and most of the reviewers on Amazon treat the cooler as if it can walk on water (of course, if the water had been in the cooler, it’d be ice!).
