chocolate caramel tart

Shortly after my husband and I began dating — the dark ages; no seriously, his phone at the time looked like this and I was like whoa, look how fancy you are, dude — we went on a road trip somewhere, stopped at a gas station, and I told him to grab something candy-ish, surprise me. This boy came back to the car with a pack of Rolos, and honestly, it’s amazing we didn’t break up right then and there because Rolos are terrible candy and it’s about time someone said it. [Oh I can hear the reverberations of a thousand unfollows but I will absolutely die on this hill, and remain undeterred.] They’re gooey so they give off the appearance, the suggestion, of being good candy but the goo tastes like nothing. I feel this way about all caramel that appears inside candy bars, which tastes me more like thickened corn syrup than anything toasty and nuanced. Plus, they’re inside a milk chocolate shell, so it’s sweet against sweet, no contrast whatsoever, and so help you if you don’t eat them in a single bite, I hope you enjoy having sticky hands for the rest of the drive. I know, I know what you’re thinking: it’s an absolute mystery how I ended up with such a picky child.

In my unsolicited opinion, three things could improve Rolos: a real toasty, buttery caramel, the contrast of dark chocolate, and a bit of salt. As good caramel is gooey, we’re not going to fight it, but that’s what plates and forks are for.

We Tried Trader Joe’s New Cauliflower Latkes — Here’s What We Thought — Shopping

After running out to purchase these cauliflower pancakes (aka latkes), heating them up in our kitchen convection oven, and wafting the scent of crispy Parmesan throughout the office, my coworkers were dying to know: Where did I get these?

“Cauliflower Joe’s,” I told them. “I mean Trader Joe’s!” My bad … but honestly, the more that I think about it, maybe Trader Joe’s should consider rebranding to Cauliflower Joe’s, as they’re swapping the crucifer in for just about everything these days. We’ve seen it all — pizza crust, gnocchi, rice, mashed potatoes, the works — so I guess it makes perfect sense that the latke would be next?

Washing the Dishes May Help Relieve Stress, According to Science — Wellness News

Dishes stress me out. Usually because as I’m flinging oatmeal bowls at my children and panic-cooking pork shoulder for tomorrow’s work potluck while defrosting fish for dinner, all I see is the mess I’m making and the chores someone will have to do later. And by someone, I mostly mean my husband. But it turns out, if I’m creating all that stress, maybe I should be doing the dishes, too, in order to actually relieve the stress.

You Need These Tiny Nutella Jars in Your Life — Food News

As the proud owner of the URL PurseFood.org for many years before deciding the $12 each year I paid for the vanity site that I had done nothing with was throwing money away, I have strong feelings about condiments in tiny, portable packages. As in, I love them. Sure, I know Beyoncé wasn’t singing to me when she belted out about where she keeps her hot sauce, but you better believe I reached in and stroked that bottle in my handbag when I heard it.

For fellow purse-food addicts, especially for the ones that are a little more sweet than spicy, Nutella’s got a treat for you this holiday season: Target is selling wee little one-ounce jars of Nutella’s classic chocolate hazelnut spread.
