About my kitchen reveal:
We wanted a brighter and more functional cooking space that still felt like it belonged in our Victorian house, all on a modest DIY budget.  By changing the placement of the sink and stove and making careful use of Ikea’s cabinet and drawer options (along with several modified cabinets and custom-built pieces), we increased the useable counter and storage space and improved the organization of cooking and pantry items. We were also able to preserve several original features: we kept the bead board wall; we scavenged window trim from the basement to match the rest of the house; and we refinished the fir floors, which had been buried under several layers of other flooring.

Recipe: Slow Cooker Pork Carnitas — Recipes from The Kitchn

We started this website to help people cook more often and more joyfully, with the idea that the kitchen is the hearth of the home, the warm place. It is by spending time there that we connect and grow.

But sometimes it gets so hot in the summer, you have to draw the line. A few straight days of humidity and ninety-degree weather, and I do not feel like being in the kitchen at all, let alone put together a big meal.

For our third (and fourth, and fifth) attempts, we tweaked the dough’s thickness, the heat intensity, and the timing. We asked grill master friends for advice, and then finally, we hit the sweet spot.

Needless to say, all this troubleshooting came in quite handy when we decided to grill pizza for our porch party earlier this month! Here are 5 things we learned in our quest for better grilled pizza:
