There are kitchen discoveries that lead to nothing but trouble. The first time I caramelized sugar, I knew I was ruined. Why would anyone want to eat drab white sugar if they could eat it cooked to a 100x as delicious toasty amber syrup? The first time I tried browned butter, I went on a butter-browning bender (cookies! breadcrumbs! crispy treats!) which, frankly, shows little sign of abating today. So, it should be no surprise that when I finally cracked the authentic pretzel-making code six months ago, I didn’t know where to stop. Everything comes up pretzel now! Laura and her husband took this incredibly dated (have you ever seen an oven that color?) kitchen and gave it a whole new life. Take a look at how this kitchen went from 70s Tang to farmhouse chic.

Today we want to share our brighter, sunnier outdoor Thanksgiving menu and party. Outdoors? you say. Sunnier? Those of us who live in colder climates scurry from car to house in a wintry mix on Thanksgiving, but this year we threw a party with the rest of the country in mind — California, Texas, Florida, and all the blessedly warm regions where folks can enjoy their feasts outdoors in style.
