Next Week’s Meal Plan: Five Simple Dinners for a Week of Travel — Next Week’s Meal Plan

This weekend, two moving containers were delivered to our driveway and slowly but surely filled with everything in our Georgia home. Left are a few kitchen staples and enough clothing for each of us to “camp out in our house” and on the road for the next two weeks. It would be incredibly easy to give up meal planning for the next couple of days or weeks while we move, but — and this is a testament to meal planning as a tool for improving our home lives — having a meal plan and feeding my family simple, nutritious meals during a hectic time makes me feel steady and confident in a time of total chaos.

This week I’m planning meals that can be made from the small bin of cookware I packed for traveling: knives, a cast iron skillet, a sheet pan, a few measuring devices, tongs, etc. Here are the five incredibly simple meals that I’m planning for our first week of travel.

There are many iterations of the summer bucket list. Some include going to the beach, hiking, or watching the fireflies outside on the back porch. All crucial to the season, yes, but so is eating all the delicious things the warm weather brings. The New Trailer for The Great British Bake Off Is Delightfully Weird — Food TV

When it was announced earlier this year that everyone’s favorite cooking show, The Great British Bake Off, was leaving BBC and that the hosts and judges — besides Paul Hollywood — would all be different, I was resolved to not liking what came next. I mean, honestly, what’s The Great British Bake Off without Mary Berry? How could the show survive without its spirit? It seemed so wrong, and mean, and just antithetical to the whole point of the show to begin with.

But the new trailer for the show on Channel 4 was just released yesterday, and guys, it’s good. It’s really good.

Our 2020 Climate Goals Can Be Met with One Dietary Swap — Food News

Back in 2003, a global movement called Meatless Monday called on people to abstain from eating meat once a week. An initiative created between The Monday Campaigns and the Center for a Livable Future (CLF) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the goal was two-fold: to better our health and improve our environment.

Critics and skeptics have often questioned how effective Meatless Monday is in the big picture, but a new report from The Atlantic manages to provide some perspective about how what we choose to eat can influence the planet.

We’re All Sorts of Excited About Anthropologie’s Latest Partnership — Shopping

We’re not the sorts of people to get excited about celebrity couples. What does it matter who Kylie Jenner is dating? The couplings we do care about are the smart and fun brand partnerships — like the newest one involving Anthropologie.

Anthro has joined forces with flowery English luxury brand Liberty of London and we can’t even. Should we give the pair a celebrity couple name? Let’s see. How about Anthroberty? Liberologie? Or even better, maybe what it’s actually being called: Liberty for Anthropologie.

Take a look and then go shopping. Some of the gear is available now, but you’ll have to wait a little while for the rest to hit the shelves.

Prepare to Freak Out Over Halo Top’s 7 New Flavors — Grocery News

Halo Top ice cream just announced that they’re launching seven new flavors this month and you’re going to want to try them all. For those not in the know, Halo Top is everyone’s favorite low-calorie ice cream. In fact, it’s the best-selling pint of ice cream in the United States right now. Most pints fall in the range of 240 to 360 calories a pint and have up to 24 grams of protein. While you definitely won’t get the same mouthfeel and taste as full-fat regular ol’ ice cream, Halo Top is probably the best of the low-calorie options.

The seven new flavors branch out from the more traditional offerings, including a pancakes and waffle flavor (!!!) and candy bar ice cream. The new flavors shouldn’t be hitting grocery stores for a couple weeks, but if you need to get your hands on something right now, you can currently buy them online for $6.99 a pint.

Your Avocado Toast Habit Is About to Get Cheaper — Food News

Avocado-lovers received some bad news earlier this year — their favorite fruit was going to cost them more money as the market rate reached record highs. A Bloomberg report warned that a combination of growing demand and a smaller crop would make the price of avocado steeper than usual in 2017, and it did. At the time, the going rate for a box of avocados was double that of last year, reaching a 19-year high. Oof.

This summer I have a pretty delicious problem: a neighbor with too many tomato plants. Every week she comes by with a box of ripe tomatoes in every shape and size imaginable.
